Meet the team: Katherine Strachan Davis

In this blog series we have asked each of our team members various questions so you can get to know us a little better.
This week we catch up with company director Katherine Strachan Davis.

Describe your perfect project? - To work with a client who wishes us to consider every element of their home, someone who really loves living in and respects their period home. An individual who understands that the idiosyncrasies of an old building are something to be treasured and are what make it so special.

What got you into the industry? - An obsession with the effect that light, colour, and texture in the spaces we occupy have on our mood, sense of self and of wellbeing. Being commissioned to restore already beautiful spaces into somewhere even more uplifting and inspiring is such a privilege.

Explain your role in the company? - I am co-director and a chartered Architect responsible for architectural and interior design work. Starting with clients on their brief at the very beginning of the journey I am there right throughout the site phases to make sure design decisions are carried throughout specification, detailing and construction.

What do you love most about your job? - I love the collaborative nature of our work: working with our clients, fantastic site teams, and skilled tradespeople as well as interior designers, architects, and craftspeople to pull everything together.

What do you think sets Edel apart from other similar companies?- An instilled love and respect for period buildings and our ability to add value to refurbishment projects because we design in house. Whether clients need a full design service or construction only, we are uniquely flexible in the way we handle all our projects: responsive and agile in our approach.
