Meet the team : Kym McCoag

In this blog series we have asked each of our team members various questions so you can get to know us a little better.
This week we catch up with Office Manager Kym McCoag

Describe your perfect project? - A complete renovation. High ceilings with original cornices, and original fireplaces that just need some love and attention gets me excited. I love watching it all come together, the process Katherine and Andrew go through along with our site teams to transform a bedroom into a kitchen just amazes me. I am a big fan of bold colours and statement furniture, so when a client decides to be brave with these choices it’s really exciting to see!

What got you into the industry? - I am very nosey - looking into windows of beautiful houses on the walk home from school was one of my favourite parts of the day. It fascinates me how people live and their individual style choices. I always wonder will the personality fit the home that you imagine for someone. I knew I wanted to work in the property industry from a young age and have progressed to my current role.

Explain your role in the company? -As the Office Manager I am responsible for administration support to the Directors as well as to site. Some of my responsibilities include ordering materials for projects, office housekeeping, arranging insurances, vehicle upkeep, processing and making payment of invoices, processing timesheets and payment of wages. Liaising with Directors and staff on annual leave and other HR points. I organise training and courses to ensure all employees have the relevant training and can expand their skills. I coordinate the apprentices with Edinburgh college as well as CITB and provide updates through appraisals along with the Directors. I also assist with promotional events such as The Edinburgh Art Fair and RSA Exhibition, which I am looking forward to doing again when we are out of lockdown.

What do you love most about your job? - There is not a better feeling than walking out of a project after the cleaners have been in and everything is ready for the client. Seeing the finished home that was once a building site and thinking ‘wow’ we did it again.

What do you think sets Edel apart from other similar companies?- The people. Everyone at Edel cares about what they do and are excited about the projects and what can be achieved. There is a real passion and appreciation for the homes that are being created.
