The second development at this West End address for Dunedin House Properties is a conversion of a five-storey townhouse into four apartments. The principal floors have highly decorative classical interiors with dark wood mouldings and large enriched cornicing. The main staircase in the communal hallway is intricately carved and embellished. The individual rooms are on a grand scale and have large windows with a magnificent bay at Ground and First floor level.
Edel as the main contractor for the development were invited to produce an interior design and fitout, enhanced above the level of the developer specification, to suit the owners' lifestyle and tastes. The entrance level of this double lower flat has a grand bay windowed drawing room connected to a sleek, glossy white kitchen accessed via jib doors built into an ornate buffet panelling.
Over the two levels there are four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and the lower level has a large open plan entertaining space. Containing a contemporary kitchen-diner and lounge with media wall it opens onto a beautifully landscaped courtyard garden accessed through large glazed bi-fold doors.
Edel designed and installed the bathrooms including the marble steam shower room adorned with gold mosaic tiling. Edel supplied bespoke joinery items and collaborated with Tangram Furnishers on the supply of furniture and lighting which included the centrepiece lipstick pink velvet sofa.
The first floor one bedroom flat is in the same ownership and is currently used as an artist's studio. The vast drawing room benefits from fantastic levels of daylighting and the bay overlooks the mature gardens at the centre of Drumsheugh Gardens. The 'studio' has large ornate cornicing, similar to the ground floor, and beautiful marble fireplaces at both ends of the room.
