Royal Circus

Royal Circus

Category A Listed

A significant and well-preserved example of urban planning, Royal Circus was designed by W H Playfair in 1820. This A-listed property is a converted two-bedroom apartment occupying the first floor drawing room level in the original townhouse. The building has been altered numerous times in the past and at one stage was used as a hotel. A stone’s throw away from bustling Stockbridge, this elegant crescent is a lovely area of residence in Edinburgh’s New Town.

The client was looking to create a luxurious and fashionable space that complimented the original architectural features. This look was achieved by adhering to a simple colour palette of grey and white coupled with chrome finishes.

The hallway was reconfigured for better flow and functionality with a new shower room, utility room and bespoke cloakroom cabinet. A contemporary ensuite shower room was added to the master bedroom and both bedrooms received bespoke wardrobes.

The kitchen was improved by the addition of new glazed doors connecting to the drawing room and a contemporary kitchen by Kitchens International. Carpets were removed throughout the principal rooms in favour of a classic oak herringbone parquet floor.

The Statuario marble fireplace in the drawing room was restored and with the addition of new hearth and gas fire, elevates the original focal point for the room.
